The editor is where your team writes and assembles content. CollectContent saves your work automatically so you can focus on writing without worrying about losing anything.
Each item has a template, and the editor displays that template's fields for your team to complete. The editor brings your content model to life.
Understanding the editor interface
When you open a content item, the editor is split into key areas that help you write, review and manage progress.
The top bar
The top bar shows a variety of information about your content item, including:
- The item title.
- The folder that contains the item.
- The template the item is using.
- The current workflow stage and due date.
- The real-time collaborators currently working on the content item.
- The team members assigned to the content item.
- Any comments that exist on your content item.
- A variety of settings related to your content item, including Rename, Move, Workflow, Due Date, Assignees, Template, Version History and Delete.
- Your user profile settings.
Section tabs
Beneath the top bar is the tab selector for your current template. Tabs allow for content to be organised into logical sections.
Clicking on a tab will change the currently selected tab.
Fields
The content fields you see come directly from the item's selected template.
Each template field is displayed in the editor for your team to complete. As the structure is predefined, everyone working on the item follows the same format, making content more consistent and easier to review and export.
Good to know
When templates are updated, existing items keep their current content. New fields appear empty, and removed fields are archived rather than deleted.
Content fields have a title at the top and may also provide some guidance at the bottom on how to complete the field.
Within the content field, there is a space to provide your relevant content. This changes based on the type of field used.
Real-time collaboration
The editor is collaborative in real time. Multiple team members can work on the same item at once and see updates as they happen.
This makes handoffs and reviews faster, especially when one person is drafting while another checks guidance, structure, or completeness.
Autosave and save status
Changes made in the editor are saved automatically. When you've finished editing your content item, you can safely close the editor.
